Chris Brown is venting his frustrations over the 2016 Grammy Awards on Twitter, and he’s not holding back.
The singer, who coincidentally is nominated in one category this year, took to social media to share his thoughts on the current state of affairs in the music industry.
“#GRAMMY? This is probably the main reason I love being free to create any kind of music I want. Too many people kiss ass and work less,” he began by writing.
“If u turn on ya radio right now I promise within the hour you will hear Chris Brown on damn near half the songs or I’ve co-written. The awards used to mean something. Now it’s about likes, and memes.”
Brown added, “I’m thankful to my fans. I am able to be the best artist I can without having to conform to the ways of my peers. I also need my commission. A lot of y’all are favorites are my Children!”
To be fair, however, Brown earned a Grammy nom for his work on the “Only” track alongside Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne.
Late last year, Brown released the album Royalty after his daughter was born. During an interview with Hot 97, via Billboard, the singer admitted that he wasn’t going to censor his music just because he recently became a father.
“For me, with my daughter and most of the records that I make are more sexual—that’s how my daughter was made.”
He continued, “I would change my whole regimen of how I move and how I act music-wise. I do music that can appeal to all different ages and all different races.”
