Argentine World best footballer and Spanish la lega multiple champion of Barcelona Lionel Messi and his father has been sentenced to 21 months in prions over their tax fraud saga.
A court in Barcelona found both father Jorge Messi and son Lionel Messi guilty on three counts of tax fraud today.
The court ordered Messi to pay a fine of around €2 million and his father to pay €1.5 million for the crimes.
During the trial, Lionel Messi claimed he “knew nothing” about the management of his financial affairs, saying he was “playing football”.
Experts says the sentence can be appealed through Spanish Supreme Court
