Robots worldwide are being built by tech giants with innovation in science and technology with a speed of revolution of robots to own the next generation. Tech enthusiasts have launched themselves into this sophisticated discipline of wonder with the aspiration to decrease human interface in industries, giant shops, and institutions.
Robotics was introduced in the 1950s by American engineer George C. Devol who invented and patented a reprogrammable manipulator called “Unimate,” a coinage from Universal Automation.
He would attempt to sell his brainchild in the industry for the next decade but to no avail until years later when physicist and businessman Joseph Engleberger acquired Devol’s patent. Joseph Engelberger established ‘Unimation,’ a commercial robot company to produce and market robots while building on the pioneered stage set by Devol.
For his efforts and successes over the years, Joseph F. Engelberger is known as ‘The Father of Robotics’
This decade has been defined by the advent of the internet and social media, through which the world has moved from an isolated collection of land masses to a global community. The impending age will transform labor and the human workforce as we know it.
As we might term it, the Robotic Age will take civilization a step further, making it utterly unrecognizable from the world into which we were born. The concept of robots’ assimilation into human life has increasingly seized to be wishful thinking; It is now an era within sight.
Technology companies are sparing no resources in realizing these autonomous humanoids and meeting the challenges of tomorrow.
We feature a number of these astounding robotic specimens ahead of their time;
ASIMO
Named after American biochemist Isaac Asimov, the humanoid is far advanced among its peers. It has a unique ability to respond to human gestures and verbal commands. For example, Asimov modestly obliges when offered a handshake by an acquaintance. Its robust sensors enable it to listen and obey instructions given to him.
The 54kg machine can also move stuff around with ease due to its muscular arms. However, Asimo tread on the lighter side of life; He can show some serious dance moves. Built by motor giant Honda, the automaton speaks English and Japanese.
SOPHIA
Sophia will check the boxes if there was an epitome of the age of droids and Artificial Intelligence. The Hanson Robotics’ creation has been magnificent as her abilities have awed millions worldwide, making it a household name. In addition, the celebrity robot can engage in a comprehensive sit-down conversation, as was the case when she played a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. As a result, she is dubbed the world’s first robot citizen.
Sophia’s capabilities are being improved to enable her independently share her ideas, moving her away from programmed responses.
Sophia owns her Twitter account, on which we share her thoughts with her 139K followers. It would help if you gave her a follow. https://twitter.com/RealSophiaRobot?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
ROBO – C
The Human-like robot was built in Russia, with the human face having metals underneath. This was a product of the master plan started ten years ago by three dynamic and amazing Russian innovators: Igor, Maxim, and Oleg. Robo – C is an invention of Promobot, the largest robot company in Russia. This new invention of the trio can speak and recognize human faces distinctively. Feedback from its patronizers tells it all. This has been a groundbreaking invention in the robotic industry.
This robot was Invented in 2018, and it contains about 600 servo motors, a massive improvement upon its predecessors.
The robot can have the appearance of any person that the customer wishes.
An anthropomorphic machine mimics human expressions – it can move its eyes, eyebrows, and lips and support conversations, all thanks to artificial intelligence. The company also claims that Robo-C can reproduce about 600 variants of human micro-facial expressions.
Currently, there are about 30 Robo-Cs across the globe in different countries. Promobot hopes to add other sophisticated features to Robo-C to enhance its locomotive abilities.
AMECA
Ameca is the most advanced human-shaped robot representing the fore of human-robotic technology. Ameca is arguably one of the best interventions that depict good human-robot interaction.
The inventors believe that human-like artificial intelligence should find itself in a human-like body well programmed to carry out essential duties.
The Gray-faced humanoid robot blinked its way into the public consciousness in late 2021 by UK company, Engineered Arts. It has unique features, including good facial expressions. This robot can be found in Malls, museums, pump stations, and other institutions.
The automaton’s constitution is a merger of metal and plastic. It has engendered a less face and is nonhuman gray. The 17 motors inside its head give it autonomy over its actions and expressions.
Concerning facial characteristics, they are surprisingly explicit and emotive. This hybrid of artificial and lifelike features makes it a unique humanoid robot. Ameca exhibits some basic human behaviors, including reactions to nose pokes.
Ameca cannot make any move in terms of walking as there are tons of hurdles to cross before it could possess such a feature.
Ameca will sell for approximately R$745,000.00
