Is the price still a worry? Never fear. The suite can accommodate up to three whole people so you can split the bill with a couple of friends. Don’t party too hard however. Check out is at midday and check in isn’t until 3pm (so you only get that 24-hour butler for 21 hours).
In the interests of fairness Gulliver took a look at five things you could get for the same price as one night in the Ty Warner Suite:
Five first class round the world multistop flight tickets.
A holiday home in Bulgaria, with pool.
An entire year’s stay in any number of 3 star hotels in New York at current nightly rates.
A Mercedes Benz CLA5.
Four bottles of Henri Jayer Richebourg Grand Cru, the world’s most expensive wine.
There are even more expensive hotel rooms in the world and the Ty Warner suite only comes third in a ranking that is headed by the Royal Penthouse Suite at the President Wilson Hotel in Geneva. Here a stay will cost SFr60,000 (about $61,000) per night, but you get a lot more bang for your buck. The suite boasts 1,680 square metres of space and 12 bedrooms each with a marble bathroom, enough for an entire football team rather than a basketball court for a lone business traveller.
